MeKoTech

Technology- and Innovation Network MeKoTech

Requirements with respect to quality management in food chains have increased over the past few years. On the one hand consumers are far more concerned with food safety issues and on the other hand, organisations have to deal with price pressure and concentration tendencies in the agri-food sector. In order to maintain their competitive advantage, organisations seek innovative solutions to avoid mistakes, to secure quality and to reduce their costs.

This was the background for the formation of the innovation and technology network MeKoTech. The project adressed to research institutes und companies form alliances with a focus on innovative technologies in the field of on- and offline measuring in food chains. Furthermore, a second focus was to put on the combination of measurement technology and information- and communication-systems. MeKoTech aimed to improve corporate and particularly chain spanning quality management and quality communication in agricultural and food production chains.

The partners wanted to exploit this potential commercially together. The necessary research and development projects were initiated by the network partners and led by GIQS’ MeKoTech network management.
